Who We Are
SS Sign Language Tourism is a Deaf-led tour company based in Uganda, offering fully accessible wildlife, cultural, and educational travel experiences across Uganda and East Africa. We design our tours in Sign Language from the beginning, ensuring clear communication, comfort, and meaningful engagement for Deaf and Hearing using travelers.
Our work goes beyond tourism. We exist to create spaces where Deaf people are not accommodated as an afterthought, but are centered, respected, and empowered to explore Africa with confidence and joy.
Our Story
SS Sign Language Tourism was founded to address a gap in the tourism industry where Deaf travelers often face communication barriers, limited access, and exclusion from authentic travel experiences. As a Deaf-led company, we understand these challenges firsthand.
By combining professional tourism services with Sign Language access, Deaf leadership, and cultural awareness, we have created a model of tourism that is inclusive, visual, and deeply connected to people and place.
Meet our Founder
Denis Ssebayiga
Denis Ssebayiga is a Deaf tour guide from Kampala, Uganda, and the founder of SS Sign Language Tourism. Growing up within the Deaf community, Denis developed a strong passion for travel, nature, and cultural exchange, alongside a clear understanding of the barriers Deaf people face in tourism.
With extensive knowledge of Uganda and East Africa’s wildlife, landscapes, and cultures, Denis leads tours that are informative, engaging, and fully accessible in Sign Language. His vision is to make East Africa a welcoming destination for Deaf travelers worldwide while creating opportunities for Deaf people within the tourism sector.
